October Featured Artists

October arrives as the trees put on their colourful autumn wardrobe. What a glorious time for a  drive to Port Stanley, especially on the warm sunny days they've promised us for fall.
Equally as glorious is the art of our Featured Artists for October, stay tuned for a profile of each of them, they are Ethel Mitrovic, Carolyne McLeod, Pat Brown, Debra Chantler, Wilf Chappell, Richard Cochrill, and Philip Schmidt.

Scott Shepard: Featured Artist

Every now and then, someone comes along with a truly creative idea. Scott and his son Noel are those someones.  I won't give their secret away, but this is NOT digital, or manipulated photography. Yes the art is done with a camera, but that's where the similarity ends. The art is created with some home made equipment, and lots of ingenuity. I'll leave you guessing from there...
Culture Of Relationships, each 18x24, photography on canvas, $300.00 each

Judy Minor: Featured Artist

I could rhapsodise over Judy's work, I could pull every flattering adjective from my trusty dictionary, and none of it would be hyperbole.   In a word, her work is amazing.
Waiting For Spring, oil, 23x13, $900.00

September Featured Artist: Paul McSherry

Anyone who can cut glass into such intricate curves and shapes, holds my admiration. Paul also fuses glass to create his own blends and patterns. Not one to stop at the obvious he incorporates  geodes and other natural materials into his glass art, for this truly is Art!
Bob, Stained Glass, 20x14 with stand,  $450.00

Judy Ross: September Featured Artist

Another of our multi talented artists, Judy is a photographer, jewellery maker, collagist, and painter. She proves the statement, that creatives are creative in all aspects of their lives!
You Are My Sunshine, photography on canvas, 16x22, $295.00

Elissa Sisco: September Featured Artist

Elissa's know around here as the 'tree lady'. Her wonderfully vibrant works, are almost all portraits of trees.
I say portraits, because one has the sense that each of her trees is a entity onto it's self, complete with a personality of it's own.

Glory Tree, Acrylic, 12x12, $95.00

Robert Reid: September Featured Artist

To know Bob is to love him. He's a Renaissance Man, talented in so many area's that I won't trouble to list them all. He's performed at some of our openings,  suffice to say that there isn't an art form that he hasn't mastered, and yet with all of that talent, he doesn't possess a drop of ego.

Ship Yard, watercolour, 20x16, $220.00

September Featured Artist: George Sapkowski

I've been enjoying George's 'Old Fishing Boat, Abandoned' as it hangs on the feature wall.  There is something magical about the golden tones of this piece, even with the distraction of the reflection of our plank ceiling in the photo, you can feel the peacefulness of the work. What do you think?

'Old Fishing Boat, Abandoned'  Photographic Art, 20x16, $150.00

Sue Marentette: September Featured Artist

Sue has 'chops' as they say in the music business.  She's painted since the 70's, and shown extensively. She's also taught art in on location workshops in the 1000 Islands/Kingston area, privately from her studio, and at the University of Windsor.
We are very pleased to represent her and her amazing work here at the Art Emporium.
